๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Safety & FAQ for parents

The honest answers to what every parent asks me first. I'm Brandon โ€” I'm 12, and I built this. If something's not here, just email me.

โœ“ COPPA-consciousโœ“ No adsโœ“ No kid trackingโœ“ Free

The basics

๐Ÿ†“ Is KiddReads really free?
Yes โ€” completely. No subscription, no "premium" wall on the things that matter, no credit card. I didn't build it to sell you anything; I built it because I wanted it to exist.
๐Ÿ“š What does "kid-safe" actually mean here?
Every one of the 55,000+ books is hand-picked and age-classified. Adult and inappropriate material is filtered out at the catalogue level โ€” it isn't hidden behind a setting your kid could flip, it simply isn't in the library. Browse and search only ever show books meant for young readers.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ How does the AI (Seb) avoid recommending fake or bad books?
Most "AI book recommenders" confidently invent titles that don't exist. Seb doesn't: every book he suggests is checked against a real catalogue before it reaches your kid. No hallucinated titles, and nothing outside the kid-safe library.

Privacy & accounts

๐Ÿšซ Do you track or advertise to my kid?
No. KiddReads is COPPA-conscious from the ground up โ€” no ad networks, no third-party kid analytics, no selling data. Your child's identity stays private; there's no commercial agenda pulling at them while they read.
๐Ÿ“ง Does my kid need an email address?
No. You create each child's account from your parent dashboard โ€” just a name and a PIN. Kids never hand over an email or personal details to use KiddReads.
๐Ÿ‘€ Can I see what my kid reads?
Yes. Your parent dashboard shows each child's recent activity, what they've finished, what they want to read, and the reviews they leave โ€” quietly, in the background. Trust, with a window into it.

Setting it up

โž• How do I add a child?
Open your dashboard, sign in with your parent account, and tap Add a Child. Give them a name and a PIN and you're done. Add as many kids as you like โ€” each gets their own private shelf.
๐ŸŽ›๏ธ Can I control what they see?
The whole catalogue is already age-appropriate, so there's nothing scary to block. On top of that you choose what lands on each kid's shelf, and you can review anything flagged (like a filtered book from an import) before it goes through.
๐Ÿ“ฅ Is importing a Goodreads library safe?
Yes โ€” every imported book is safety-checked on the way in. Anything that doesn't pass is held for you to review, and you can override it. Your kid's reading history travels with them without dragging in anything that doesn't belong.

About

๐Ÿ‘‹ Who actually built this?
Me โ€” Brandon, a 12-year-old in Vancouver, BC. Every page, every feature. I couldn't find a book site truly built for kids my age, so I made one โ€” and I built the parent side so grown-ups could trust it without reading over anyone's shoulder. More about me โ†’
